^Wakefield News | Mn. Yen E. Rhtta Our revival came to a close Sun day night. We had good attendance each night. Mrs. Bessie Hamm of Clinton, S. C., mother of the Rev. Horace Hamm placed red roses in the sanctuary last Sunday in memory of her husband. We had 26 additions to our mem bership by letter and by profession of faith for baptism. We were glad to have 35 mem bers of Whitestone Lodge sit with us in the morning worship service. The Vota Vita Class met with Mrs. Dorothy Pate Wednesday night. Mrs. Wynelle Ferrell was in charge of the program. Tuesday night ait 8:00 the Fhila thea Class met with Mrs. Joe Al ford. Mr. and Mrs. Warren Boykin announce the birth of a son April 23, at Rex Hospital. A red rose in a bud vase was placed on the pul pit in honor of our youngest baby and sent to Mrs. Boykin and son after service. He is a great grand son of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Stallings. Miss Bessie Baker spent Sunday with Mrs. Helen Jones. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Bottom and children visited the Julian Mur rays Sunday p.m. Mrs. Vera Rhodes went to the birthday dinner of T. V. Puryear last Sunday. Mrs. Ralph Mitchell, Sr., is in Wendell-Zebulon Hospital. Mrs. Frances Pace is a patient in Rex Hospital. Mrs. Hattie Pulley is in Mary Elizabeth Hospital. Carson Corbett who was hurt in a tractor wreck is in Wendell-Zeb ulon Hospital. Mrs. L. J. Glover, 521 N. Wil mington Street, Raleigh, is sick. Miss Estha Martin spent the weekend with her parents, the C. C. Wheelers. Mrs. Pink Williams has had pleurisy the past week and is not able to be out. Mrs. John Massey , Buck Tur ner and Mrs. E. J. Corbett are pa tients at Wendell-Zebulon Hos pital. Mrs. Esther Oakley is giving Mrs. Ernest Braxton a miscellan eous shower Friday night at the home of Mrs. Esther Oakley at 8:00. Her friends are invited. Mrs. Robert Lee Kimball of Ft Worth, Texas, is improving after surgery last week. Mrs. Mamie Kimball is spending some time with them. Mrs. Vera Rhodes took Mrs. Hettie Vause and Mrs. Alice Hood to see the Fred Hoods Sunday p.m. Mrs. Vera Rhodes took Mrs. Rel la Erivette, Mrs. Lala Pulley and Mrs. Nellie Ohamblee to the Coun ty Dress Revue in Raleigh last Friday. They all modeled dresses they had made for the Home Dem onstration Club. Our Home Demonstration Club met last Wednesday with 12 pres ent. Rev. Theo. Davis gave the devotional. We had six dresses modeled, but two failed to go to Raleigh. Mrs. Lala Pulley and Mrs. Rel la Privett visited Mrs. Cora Kemp last Sunday p.m. We will miss the Ruth Chamblee Show which we have enjoyed for a good while. ' Mrs. Herbert Perry has been a patient at Rex Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Stone of Raleigh visited Mrs. Essie Cun ningham Saturday p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Tant and children of Pilot and Miss Jean Denton were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Verlon Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Beddingfield and children of Rocky Mount and Junior McLamb visited the Buck Richards and the Leo Leffingwells over the weekend. Miss Jean Denton spent Sunday with Miss Brenda '£ant. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Young cel ebrated their third wedding anni versary last Thursday, April 27. Vance Denton, Ben King and Mrs. Herbert Tant visited Mrs. Neta Denton Sunday morning. Perry, Sr., are planning to attend the May Day Exercises at Mere dith College where Miss Lou Per ry is representing the Junior Class. The monthly meeting of the Bunn Firemen’s Auxiliary met Monday night at Mrs. Hazel Per ry’s home with 11 present and a guest. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Lucas and son, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Peterson and family of Raleigh were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. K. Privette. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Privette are now in Norfolk, Va., where he is working. Elmo Privette is working in Manteo this week. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ellington and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Pearce cele brated the Ellington’s anniversary at Parkers Saturday night and visited Fred Upchurch in a Wilson hospital. Hal Perry will give a brief talk on Civil Defense at the beginning of Sunday School this Sunday. Rev. Foushee, Kenneth and Ka ren were Friday night guests of Rev. Foushee’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Foushee, of Pittsboro. Sunday guests of Rev. and Mrs. Foushee were Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Foushee and family of Raleigh, Mr. and Mrs. Alphus Banks, Mrs. Mary Meadows and Miss Janie Hender son of Princeton and Kinston. Ainsworth Privette entered Rex Hospital Sunday for a knee opera tion. The Bill Pool family of Raleigh visited Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Rich ards Sunday afternoon. Student Counselors Honored at Tea Student counselors who acted as “Big Sisters” to freshmen women in Cotton Hall and Woman’s Hall during the 1960-61 school term at East Carolina College were hon ored at a tea Tuesday afternoon, April 25, in the parlor of Cotton Hall. Student counselors are chosen each year from the rising sopho more class to live in freshmen dor mitories and to guide the fresh men women as they adjust to col lege. Counselors are chosen on the bases of leadership abilities, personality, character and scholar ship. Anne Creech, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Creech, was one of the counselors who was honored at the tea.
